Mixed Media

I am inspired by nature’s patterns and I burn and layer yesterday’s newspapers into contours of living tissue. The rebirth through fire and inspiration transfigures the newspaper into uplifting power of new life. My collages are “found objects” of the tree rings from which paper was originally made. Text and photos are half visible suggesting wood-grain, roads, feathers, fossils or the patterns on shells; beautiful shapes evolve and diversify in this new recycled context. With headlines half visible and stories disappearing, the newsprint text is endowed with new meaning.
